The lowly sea robin has a few unkind monikers, like 'poor man's lobster', 'bait thief' and 'barking fish'. Yes, they do bark when threatened! They are an underappreciated species that are both beautiful and delicious. I reeled this specimin up on the south-side of Fishers Island, New York. After a few experimental prints, I filleted it and tossed the meat in butter and garlic. Sweet and firm, this ignored species of sculpin should, in my opinion, be on menus across the nation. Printed on thin papyrus with sumi-e ink and detailed with water color pencils, this original print measures 18" x 24".
